UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones may have won the war Saturday night over Vitor Belfort, but he did not escape without injury. Jones, who successfully defended his title in the main event of UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort, was handed an indefinite medical suspension for a possible injury to his right arm.

Belfort locked Jones in a deep armbar attempt early in the fight, and “Bones” said after the bout ended that he felt pain like he had never felt before. An exact length for his suspension will come once an X-ray of his arm is taken.

That 22-year-old redheaded “badass” completely dominated Lopez, who was looking for his second major upset in three months. Alvarez knocked down Lopez in Rounds 2-4 and was on his way to his fourth knockdown before referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight at 2:55 in the fifth.

LAS VEGAS – Chael Sonnen (28-12-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC) isn’t giving up on the possibility of fighting Jon Jones (16-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) just yet.

According to UFC President Dana White, Sonnen is anticipating another last-minute change to next week’s UFC 152 event, and the two-time middleweight title challenger is expecting to replace Vitor Belfort and take his shot at Jones’ light heavyweight belt.

“Chael Sonnen is in full training camp right now,” White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “He’s been training since he got offered the Jones fight. He said, ‘I’m in full camp right now because Vitor will get hurt and pull out, and it will be Jones vs. Sonnen, anyway.”

By Mike Chiappetta – Senior Writer

Over the years, he’s been one of the most opinionated fighters on the UFC roster, voicing his two cents on topics from PEDs to fighter pay. But almost a week after getting the call to coach the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter — a show in which he was once a participant — Nelson remains essentially speechless.
